Description:
From survival to self- discovery a journey painted in resilience
Set in the heart of Mumbai’s narrow lanes, Coals to Colors tells the story of Kamlesh, a young orphan who once survived by stealing coal from passing trains. His only companion was a loyal street dog, a silent witness to his struggles.
When tragedy took away his friend, Kamlesh turned to art, using pieces of coal to express his grief. His raw sketches caught the eye of a compassionate teacher who saw both pain and potential in his drawings. This encounter changed Kamlesh’s life forever.
Adopted and nurtured. He found a new beginning trading coals for colors, struggle for purpose. The story reflects his transformation from survival to hope, symbolized by the scar on his head a mark of the life he left behind and the one he’s building anew.
“Coals to Colors” is a reflection on resilience, empathy, and the power of creativity to heal and transform.
